Forester Activity Badge Workshop

Time: Duration- 2 hours. Start times- 10:00, 13:30, and 16:00.

Location: Park Hill Plain (meeting by the bus stop)

Age Group and size: Scouts (and their YL’s), groups of 1-20 (will be mixed with other troops).

Want to learn how to fell a tree, care for an axe, and not make a load of paperwork for Skip when you chop off your finger? Then this session is for you! Successful completion of all the bases earns you the Forester badge. Leaders please email longleat@wiltshirescouts.org.uk to prebook spaces.

 

Scout Radio Workshop

Time: Duration- 30 minutes. Start times- every 20 minutes between 10:00 and 17:40.

Location: Campsite HQ area.

Age Group and size: All Sections, groups of 4-5.

Over the course a half hour period, small groups will be able to plan, produce and broadcast their own radio show. This will be broadcast over the camp PA system, streamed via the internet so that friends and family can listen at home, and available to listen to after the event via http://scoutradio.org.uk. Photography Badge Competition

Time: Duration- All day. Download time- Saturday between 18:00 and 19:30.

Location: Campsite HQ area.

Age Group and size: All Sections & Leaders, Individuals.

We are holding a wildlife photography competition during the weekend. The winning entries will be displayed on the Wiltshire Scouts website and be made into a commemorative calendar. The competition will be judged by a panel including Longleats Head Keeper, a member of the BBC Natural History Unit (NHU) in Bristol, and the Camp Leader. Entrants must bring their own digital camera.

Rules

  1. This competition is open to all Young People and Adults attending the Longleat camp. Individuals may submit a maximum of three photographs.
  2. Photographs must be taken during the camp.
  3. There will be 4 age groups: Beavers & Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network/Leaders.
  4. An electronic copy of the photograph must be submitted during the event at the Photography Download Centre in HQ Centre.
  5. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that all the necessary permissions are obtained from any people featured in a photograph.
  6. Your entry must be entirely your own original work, nor defame anybody or breach any copyright.
  7. Photographs should not be edited using software but Camera effects can be used (e.g. Black and white, sepia etc.).
  8. The winners will be notified by email before September 1st 2013.
  9. The decisions of the judges are final in every situation.
